With over 20 years in Finance, Commercial, Interim and Residential Mortgage, Laura Uribe-Tatum joins the Mortgage RIGHT team. Laura is born, raised, and educated locally in San Antonio. San Antonio is home and is also where she raised three wonderful children. The Tatum children have all attended Texas universities – Texas A&M Kingsville, UTSA, SMU, or Texas Tech – GO TEXAS!
Laura understands the needs in our housing market and is connected to our community. She continuously serves our community by formally teaching at Avenida Guadalupe, assisting with First Time Homebuyers class, Down Payment Assistance and Credit Smart. She is an advocate with serval other non- profit groups. She is bilingual and happy to serve Spanish speaking individuals.

Getting a new mortgage to replace the original is called refinancing. This process allows the borrower an opportunity to obtain a different interest term and/or rate. The first loan is paid off, then the newly refinanced loan goes into effect.
It is common for people to refinance when they have equity in their home, which is the difference between the amount owed on their mortgage and the appraised value of the home. In that situation, the borrower has an option to “cash-out” (hence the term cash-out refinance) the value of their home equity allowing them to remodel their home, consolidate debt, pay for college, or other expenses.
